Washington University in St. Louis is a member of the Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education, an initiative of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The university is committed to addressing and preventing sexual harassment and maintaining an environment where everyone can feel safe working and learning.
The leaders of the effort at WashU are Jessica Kennedy, Title IX coordinator, and Renee Shellhaas, MD, associate dean for faculty promotions and career development at the School of Medicine.
The collaborative’s goals include preventing and addressing such harassment; sharing and implementing evidence-based policies toward that end; advancing and applying research on preventing sexual harassment; raising awareness about the consequences; and evaluating progress toward reducing and preventing harassment in higher education.
