Jeanette Mrozinski, a master of fine arts candidate in creative nonfiction in WashU’s Writing Program in Arts & Sciences, has won the 2025 Calibre Essay Prize from the Australian Book Review.

The Women’s Society of Washington University presented the Harriet K. Switzer Leadership Award and the Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholarship to four exceptional students during its annual membership meeting this spring.

Kim Lacey, a doctoral candidate in history in Arts & Sciences, has won a prestigious 2025-26 Korea Foundation Scholarship for Graduate Studies.

WashU senior Kate Farmer has received the Joseph Rago Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Journalism. In her new role, Farmer will write editorial features for The Wall Street Journal.

Seniors Basma Daham, Autumn Kim, Angelina O’Brien and Lillith Streett, in Arts & Sciences, were named winners of the Department of Biology’s annual awards.

Student Life, WashU’s independent student newspaper, won 38 Missouri College Media Association Awards — including Best Overall Newspaper. 

“Adam Pendleton: To Divide By,” an exhibition catalog published by WashU’s Kemper Art Museum, has been named best monograph of 2024 by the Midwest Art History Society.

Two WashU faculty are among nearly 250 newly elected members of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, one of the nation’s most prestigious honorary societies. They are physicist Carl Bender, in Arts & Sciences, and immunologist Marco Colonna, at the School of Medicine.

The WashU Empower program will receive a “What’s Right with the Region” Award from Focus St. Louis at its 28th annual celebration event May 15. An initiative of the School of Continuing & Professional Studies, the program gives individuals with limited English proficiency the next-level English and professional skills they need to find jobs that match their talents and training.

The George and Carol Bauer Leaders Academy celebrated WashU leaders and organizations making a difference on campus and in the community at the annual Excellence in Leadership Awards, held April 17 in Risa Commons.
