Three doctoral candidates at Washington University in St. Louis were inducted into the Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society at the annual Bouchet Conference on Diversity in Graduate Education April 10-11 at Yale University.
Washington University’s 2015 Bouchet fellows are:
- Andia Augustin-Billy, a PhD candidate in Romance languages with a certificate in women, gender and sexuality studies, both in Arts & Sciences;
- Brittni D. Jones, a Chancellor’s Graduate Fellow and Danforth Scholar who is completing doctoral studies in the Department of Education in Arts & Sciences and is also a graduate student investigator with the Center for the Study of Regional Competitiveness in Science & Technology; and
- Matheus B. Victor, a National Science Foundation Fellow and a PhD candidate in neurosciences in the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences.
The Bouchet Society recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement and promotes diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate.
Its network of pre-eminent scholars exemplifies academic and personal excellence, character, service and advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the academy.
The new fellows will participate in ongoing professional development opportunities through the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
Sheri R. Notaro, PhD, associate dean in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, coordinates the university’s chapter of the Bouchet Society.
