James Kolker, university architect and associate vice chancellor at Washington University in St. Louis, has been elevated to the College of Fellows in the American Institute of Architects, an honor bestowed on only about 3 percent of the organization’s 90,000 members.
AIA Fellows are selected for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Kolker is one of the visionaries behind the east end transformation of the Danforth Campus, the largest construction project in university history, and managed the planning, design and development a number of key projects including Hillman Hall, Knight and Bauer halls, the Lofts of Washington University and Sumers Recreation Center.
Kolker will receive his medal in June during the Investiture of Fellows Ceremony at the AIA Conference on Architecture at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
Kolker recently was featured in WashU Spaces and co-curated the current exhibit at the Kemper Art Museum.
