An initiative of the Bauer Leaders Academy, the Leadership Development Badge provides WashU students with new skills through workshops, personalized coaching and applied leadership experiences. The program is available to all undergraduate students at no cost. This month, the Bauer Leaders Academy hosts WashU Leadership Week.

Several biology and medical researchers at Washington University in St. Louis have earned prestigious awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Lana Lin’s “The Autobiography of H. Lan Thao Lam” has been longlisted for the 2025 National Book Award for nonfiction. The book is published by Dorothy, an independent publishing project co-founded by WashU’s Danielle Dutton and Martin Riker.

J. Claude Evans, a professor emeritus of philosophy in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died in St. Louis July 26. He was 79.

The Sam Fox School has announced the launch of Design Openings. Created in collaboration with the Kranzberg Arts Center and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, this multiyear initiative invites interdisciplinary St. Louis design teams to animate public life in the Covenant Blu Grand Center neighborhood.

Washington University in St. Louis has launched WashU Serves, a new year-round volunteer initiative that reflects the university’s “In St. Louis, For St. Louis” commitment to strengthen the region. In partnership with the United Way of Greater St. Louis, WashU Serves offers the university community more ways to get involved.

Well-being Wednesdays, a Student Affairs initiative, offer the WashU community an opportunity to learn about wellness-related programs, buy fresh produce, enjoy a free cup of coffee and take a moment to relax.

Three WashU investigators have been recognized with prestigious awards through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s High-Risk, High-Reward Research program, which supports unconventional approaches to major challenges in biomedical and behavioral research.

Diana J. Montaño and Christina Ramos, both faculty members in the Department of History in Arts & Sciences, have been selected as Georgie W. Lewis Career Development Professors.
