Barani Raman, a renowned expert in systems neuroscience, machine olfaction and bio-inspired computing, has been named the Dennis and Barbara Kessler Professor of Biomedical Engineering at WashU.

Alumni Lesley Malin and Scott Helm have made a $1.35 million gift to support WashU’s annual summer theater program at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, which is hosted by the Performing Arts Department in Arts & Sciences.

Markus Baer, vice dean of executive education at Olin Business School, has been installed as the Knight Family Professor of Organizational Behavior.

Daniel Epps, an expert on the U.S. Supreme Court, has been installed as the Howard and Caroline Cayne Distinguished Professor of Law at WashU.

John Mackey, co-founder of Whole Foods Market, will deliver the keynote address April 14 for WashU Olin Business School’s annual Brauer Lecture Series.  

Julie Holland Mortimer is a renowned applied microeconomics scholar in WashU Arts & Sciences. She investigates the impact of new forms of contracting between content producers and internet retailers.

Mike Mazzeo, the Knight Family Professor of Economics and dean of WashU Olin Business School, was installed Feb. 3 as the inaugural Judy and Jerry Kent Dean.

David Wang, an acclaimed microbiologist and virologist at WashU Medicine, is known for his work identifying new viruses and understanding their roles in human diseases.

Tonya Edmond, at the Brown School, has been installed as the William E. Gordon Distinguished Professor. A ceremony took place Feb. 9 in Hillman Hall.

Last fall, WashU broke ground on the Neil S. Hirsch Center, which will foster a multi-generational community of students, employers and alumni.
