In celebration of Geography Awareness Week, the Data and GIS Services unit at Washington University Libraries is hosting lectures, workshops and the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Challenge Nov. 18-22.
Speakers include Greg Brunner, imagery scientist at leading GIS software company Esri, who will speak about remote sensing at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Olin Library; and Chris Bone PhD, assistant professor at the University of Oregon, who will share his research on geographic data modeling, agent-based modeling and ways to integrate GIS in the classroom. He will speak at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at McMillan Café.
The Washington University in St. Louis community also is invited to take part in the GIS Challenge, a campus geocaching competition. The WUSTL GIS User Group also will host its inaugural meeting at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Olin Library.
