Washington University Libraries received $150,000 from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission to digitize and reassemble the unaired interview outtakes from the seminal series “Eyes on the Prize.”
The acclaimed 14-part documentary that chronicles the civil rights movement returned to public television this month. The series is airing on World Channel and, locally, on the Nine Network.
Washington University alumnus Henry Hampton created the series, which features interviews with the activists and eyewitnesses who made history in Selma, Ala., Little Rock, Ark., Washington and beyond. The university is the sole repository and steward of the Henry Hampton Collection. The reassembled footage will be available online for public viewing. Learn more from University Libraries.
