Doug E. Frantz has been appointed the new vice chancellor for innovation and commercialization at WashU, effective Jan. 1, according to Chancellor Andrew D. Martin and David H. Perlmutter, MD, executive vice chancellor for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine.

Thomas Nickolas, MD, a respected clinical nephrologist and researcher focused on kidney disease and bone health, has been named the next director of the Division of Bone and Mineral Diseases in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Katharine Flores, the Christopher I. Byrnes Professor at Washington University, has been named vice dean for graduate education at the McKelvey School of Engineering.

James Dwyer has been named vice chancellor for university business services at WashU, announced Nichol Luoma, executive vice chancellor for administration. He previously worked at Arizona State University.

Eric J. Huang, MD, PhD, a renowned physician-scientist specializing in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases, has been named the Edward Mallinckrodt Professor and head of the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Andy Groves, a leading researcher in the development of the inner ear, will head the Department of Developmental Biology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis beginning in April.

Linda C. Samuels, a professor and chair of urban design in WashU’s Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, has been named the school’s inaugural director of sustainable design and environmental justice.

David J. Gray has been appointed interim senior vice chancellor and chief financial officer, Chancellor Andrew D. Martin announced.

The WashU Danforth Staff Council has added 11 new members and elected its executive officers for the academic year.

The WashU Board of Trustees has elected four new trustees to four-year terms, which took effect July 1. The board also selected four new student representatives for the 2024-25 academic year.
