County voters can vote at the DUC
St. Louis County voters may cast their primary ballots from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Danforth University (DUC) on the Danforth Campus. Voters need a photo ID issued by the state of Missouri (such as a driver’s license or state ID) or a photo ID issued by the federal government (such as a passport).
García-Reyes, Castro named to Gilliam Fellows Program
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) has named Washington University in St. Louis doctoral candidate Rubén A. García-Reyes and his adviser, Daniel C. Castro, to the 2024 cohort of the Gilliam Fellows Program.
Mary and Tom Stillman receive Harris Award
Mary and Tom Stillman are the recipients of the 2024 Jane and Whitney Harris St. Louis Community Service Award, which recognizes those who contribute to the betterment of the greater St. Louis community.
Board of Trustees elects new members
The WashU Board of Trustees has elected four new trustees to four-year terms, which took effect July 1. The board also selected four new student representatives for the 2024-25 academic year.
Sherraden honored as ‘Social Work Pioneer’
Michael Sherraden, the George Warren Brown Distinguished University Professor at the Brown School, has been named a Social Work Pioneer by the National Association of Social Workers Foundation.
Gomez-Lopez receives award to study pregnancy complications
Nardhy Gomez-Lopez, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received a four-year $500,000 award from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund to further research into the immunobiology of the maternal-fetal interface and identify biomarkers to predict preterm labor and birth.
Mazzeo installed as inaugural Knight Family Professor
Mike Mazzeo, dean of Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, has been installed as the inaugural Knight Family Professor. The endowed position was made possible by the Knight family, longtime ardent supporters of the Olin, WashU and St. Louis communities.
