Lunch & Learn returns to Kemper Art Museum

Summer tours available for campus groups

The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum is one of the oldest university museums in the country. This summer, the museum will resume its Lunch & Learn program, a popular series of lunchtime tours open to any campus department or group.

Designed to last about an hour, each session begins with a buffet lunch, during which education staff provide a brief introduction to the museum, its history and collections. Following lunch, visitors are taken for a guided tour of the museum’s Bernoudy Permanent Collection Gallery, which is organized thematically into four sections: Landscape, Portraiture, Abstraction, and the Everyday.

“We started the program last year and it got a really great response,” says Stephanie Ruse, the museum’s school and community programs assistant.

“The tours are very discussion-based and geared specifically towards WUSTL faculty and staff,” Ruse continues. “Participants have found them to be a good team-building exercise. It’s an opportunity for departments, programs and other campus areas to come together as a group and get a real behind-the-scenes look at what the museum has to offer.”

Lunch & Learn is available a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations should be made at least one week in advance and can be made for any weekday except Tuesday (when the museum is closed).

The lunch buffet, prearranged with Bon Appetit, includes an assortment of sandwiches, salad, cookies, lemonade and water. Cost is $7.75 per person, with a 10-person minimum and ten percent service charge.
