For the second straight year, WashU has won the Citizens for Modern Transit College Transit Challenge. The annual competition encourages students, staff and faculty from local colleges to log their rides on MetroLink and Metro buses for bragging rights and the College Transit Trophy.

A mouse study by researchers at WashU Medicine shows that lingering respiratory viruses set the stage for chronic lung disease, and eliminating infected cells reduces signs of chronic lung damage.

WashU’s first-ever Reverse Career Fair offered employers the opportunity to meet a variety of student group leaders. The goal was to connect employers to students with specific skills, not necessarily specific majors.

Crickette Sanz, a professor of anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis, was installed as the James W. and Jean L. Davis Professor in Arts and Sciences Sept. 4. Her installation address was titled “Learning From Great Apes About Rank.”

Katharine Flores, the Christopher I. Byrnes Professor at Washington University, has been named vice dean for graduate education at the McKelvey School of Engineering.

Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have received a three-year $2.6 million grant from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to develop gene therapies for cystic fibrosis.
