Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the WashU Athletic Complex is ready to welcome all voters who are registered in St. Louis County. For the first time, the Medical Campus also will host a polling place, at the McDonnell Medical Sciences Building, 4565 McKinley Ave., for voters registered in the city.

As part of WashU’s ongoing efforts to improve campus transportation and accessibility, the Office of Sustainability has launched an institutionwide transportation survey, which will be open until Nov. 18.

The Gephardt Institute invites the WashU community to submit nominations for the 22nd Annual Gerry & Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award, which celebrates students, faculty, staff and alumni who serve the St. Louis region.

The School of Continuing & Professional Studies, in collaboration with partner Teach St. Louis, is opening up its Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning program to veteran teachers who work in high-need classrooms.

Two WashU PhD candidates have been selected for the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education Inc. Graduate Student Fellows Program. The students, Allison Martinez Mejia and Gerson Moreno Romero, are both studying biomedical engineering at the McKelvey School of Engineering. 

A veteran reporter who has covered presidential candidates from John McCain to Hillary Clinton;. the founder of the National Voter Protection Action Fund; and a leading expert on Missouri ballot measures are among the speakers who will participate in election-related events in coming weeks.

No-excuse absentee voting for registered voters has begun in Missouri. Voters can visit the St. Louis or St. Louis County elections websites to find sample ballots, polling locations and additional information.

The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity invites its faculty affiliates to apply for course innovation grants of up to $5,000. Tila Neguse, senior associate director, says the grants are designed to support next-generation learning opportunities that bring students together to better understand race and ethnicity. Applications are due Nov. 25.

The Human Rights Campaign’s Healthcare Equality Index has recognized Student Health Center – Danforth Campus and the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services for their ongoing commitment to providing inclusive and gender-affirming care to all students.

The George and Carol Bauer Leaders Academy is offering new opportunities for WashU students to build their skills as leaders. The programs are open to all students regardless of their role on campus or career goals.
