Public comments welcome during WashU PD reaccreditation process
The Washington University in St. Louis Police Department is in the process of pursuing reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). That organization is accepting public comments about WashU PD.

The Confluence Collaborative for Community Engagement at WashU is now accepting nominations and applications for the William H. Danforth St. Louis Confluence Award.
Emergency communication test Oct. 7
The university plans to test WashU Alerts, its emergency communication system, at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. The test will encompass all WashU Alert modes.
Brown School establishes practicum award honoring Goldbach’s legacy
The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis is raising funds to create a practicum award honoring Jeremy T. Goldbach, a faculty member and nationally recognized scholar on LGBTQ+ mental health who died of cancer in June at age 42.
Register for fall well-being challenge
Registration is now open for the next WashU well-being initiative, Walktober, a six-week opportunity focused on fitness and wellness. The challenge begins Oct. 6.
Honorary degree nominations sought
Members of the WashU community may nominate honorary degree candidates for the May 2027 Commencement. The deadline is Oct. 3.
Flu shots available for employees
Flu shots again will be available to WashU employees on the Danforth and Medical campuses this fall. Some employees may be required to receive the vaccine.
Advisory committee leads way on inclusive excellence, welcomes input
The Inclusive Excellence Advisory Committee is actively working to develop guidance that will help WashU advance its commitments to diversity and inclusion. The committee will recommend systems and structures that allow students, faculty and staff to engage with university values in line with civil rights laws.
Flags lowered in memory of Charlie Kirk
The U.S. and university flags over Brookings Hall are lowered to half-staff until sunset Sunday, Sept. 14, as a mark of respect for Charlie Kirk who was killed in a shooting Sept. 10 in Utah.
