WashU’s Heartland Initiative aims to expand educational access to students from small towns in Missouri and southern Illinois. This fall, a new team of rural admissions officers logged 10,000 miles traveling to 80 schools in rural Missouri and Illinois, some for the very first time.

Anca Parvulescu, a professor of English in Arts & Sciences, was installed as the university’s Liselotte Dieckmann Professor in Comparative Literature Nov. 2.

Jennie H. Kwon, DO, an associate professor of medicine and chief of the section of Healthcare Epidemiology & Antimicrobial Stewardship at the School of Medicine, has been awarded a $3.6 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to lead a multisite clinical study.

Nichol L. Luoma, vice president of University Business Services at Arizona State University, has been named executive vice chancellor for administration and chief administrative officer at Washington University in St. Louis, announced Chancellor Andrew D. Martin. Her appointment is effective Feb. 5.

Projects produced by University Marketing & Communications and other departments at WashU recently won 2023 Circle of Excellence Awards and district awards from CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education).
