On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the inaugural Cabot Corporation – Xinsheng Zhang Lecture was held in Steinberg Auditorium. This year’s lecture was given by Cheng Li, director of research and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s John L. Thornton China Center, and was titled, “China’s Leadership Succession and Political Transformation.” McDonnell Scholar and Cabot Corporate Fellow Yining Huang, a doctoral student in chemistry previously from Peking University in Beijing, shakes hands with Xinsheng Zhang, PhD, vice president of Shell Aviation, for whom the lecture series is named. Looking on are Cabot president and CEO Patrick Prevost and his wife, Ute Prevost. The Cabot Corporation-Xinsheng Zhang Lectureship Series was created in 2011 and offers the university community opportunities to learn about issues of global leadership, particularly in China. It was made possible by a gift from the Cabot Corporation, honoring the leadership of Zhang, who left the company after 17 years to join Shell Aviation.
