Associate Professor Chandler Ahrens has been named chair of graduate architecture in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. The new role took effect July 1. 

Sandra Geary, a teacher of applied music and collaborative pianist in the Department of Music in Arts & Sciences, died June 23 following a short illness. She was 59.

The East End garage recently landed a new national certification for its sustainable features.

Mitra Naseh, assistant professor at the Brown School, has been selected as one of four scholars nationwide for the 2025-2026 Visiting Poverty Scholars Program, administered by the Institute for Research on Poverty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Arthur L. Prensky, MD, a professor emeritus of neurology at WashU Medicine, died June 16 after a short illness. He was 94. Prensky was a world authority in metabolic disorders, headache and neurodevelopment.

The Danforth Staff Council at WashU has added 10 new members and elected its executive officers for the academic year.

WashU Medicine faculty members received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop the Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, a two-year mentored research experience.

The Washington University in St. Louis Board of Trustees has elected a new trustee to a four-year term. In addition, a new vice chair and four undergraduate and graduate student representatives were elected for the 2025–26 academic year.

Mark D. West, a renowned legal scholar and former dean of the University of Michigan Law School, has been appointed provost of Washington University in St. Louis, effective August 1, according to Chancellor Andrew D. Martin.
