The Knight Center courtyard on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis was the venue for the wedding of Kelly Ayers and Eric Patterson April 27. The couple, whose 8-year-old daughter was diagnosed at birth with a rare genetic disorder, was given a “gifted wedding,” for which 35 local vendors donated time, talents and products. The Knight Center donated its facility for the event. The Gifted Wedding is a St. Louis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing wedding dreams to couples in need. The organization has “gifted” weddings to four couples since 2010. Situations qualifying the couples include terminal illness, disabliity and quadriplegia.
