More than 670 students and 106 faculty and staff members have volunteered to help with the Oct. 8 debate. The deadline to apply was Sept. 7 and interest has been great, said Elizabeth Lukas, debate volunteer coordinator. “We’ve been amazed by the response. Everyone is very excited to be a part of this historic event,” Lukas said.
There will be around 250 student volunteer positions and 50 alternates. Students will be notified of their positions on Sept. 17. There will also be an as yet undetermined number of faculty/staff positions.
Volunteers will be working in the following areas:
- Presidential Debate Commission Office – administrative support
- The Media File Center – administrative support
- The Debate Hall – ushers and credential checks
- Production Assistance – engineering support, staging aspects
- Tours – lead tours of debate facility
- Tickets – assist with ticketing and security procedures
- National News Media – administrative support
