Washington University School of Medicine faculty members nominate their peers for Distinguished Faculty Awards. The honors are recognition of their colleagues’ wide-ranging achievements, talents and dedication. Recipients were honored at a ceremony Feb. 26.

Collins’ book recognized for excellence in scholarly work

“Making Motherhood Work: How Women Manage Careers and Caregiving” received the Association of American Publishers’ 2020 PROSE Award for anthropology, criminology and sociology. The book was written by Caitlyn Collins, assistant professor of sociology in Arts & Sciences.

Sam Fox School students featured in Varsity Art XXIV

Senior Libby Evan and junior Jina Hyun are representing the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis in Varsity Art XXIV. The annual exhibition, which opens Feb. 28, is hosted by Art St. Louis and features work by undergraduate and graduate students from St. Louis college- and university-level art programs.

Andrew J. Bierhals, MD, associate professor of radiology, has been named vice chair for quality and safety for the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Washington University has been named a top place for women to work in the third annual “Women in the Workplace: Employment Scorecard.” Sponsored by the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis, the scorecard evaluates employment practices and their impact on gender diversity.
