WashU once again will partner with Go! St. Louis, host of the Greater St. Louis Marathon, a St. Louis tradition that features races from a full marathon to a 1-mile family fun run. The race will take place April 11 in downtown St. Louis. WashU faculty, staff and students are eligible for discounted registration.

The 16th annual St. Louis Area Brain Bee drew 54 high school students from about 30 schools to WashU for a day of neuroscience challenges and panels.

WashU’s St. Louis Fellows Program has received a 2026 Excellence in Civic & Community Engagement Programming Award from Campus Compact, the largest and oldest higher education association dedicated to higher education civic and community engagement. 

Washington University in St. Louis and University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy announced they have entered into an agreement whereby WashU will assume control of UHSP. UHSP’s central program, the Doctor of Pharmacy, will become WashU’s 10th academic school, to be known as WashU St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

WashU is now offering Civic Action Weeks. Starting Monday, Feb. 16, the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement will host about two-dozen workshops, field trips, lectures and volunteer opportunities that promote engagement and advocacy in the St. Louis community and beyond.

Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis are testing for elevated lead levels potentially kicked up in the destructive path of the 2025 tornado.

Celebrated editor, publisher and art collector Larry Warsh recently gifted 56 works of Chinese photography to the Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis. This spring, the museum will publicly display 43 of those works, all made between 1993 and 2006, for the first time in “Looking Back Toward the Future: Contemporary Photography from China.”

Grassroots organization Action St. Louis, led by WashU alumna Kayla Reed, will receive the Rosa L. Parks Award at the 39th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at WashU‘s Graham Chapel.

In 2025, the WashU community made new discoveries, celebrated new victories and launched new efforts to make the globe safer and healthier. 

WashU is accepting applications for its innovative College Prep Program, a no-cost, multi-year program that prepares first-generation, limited-income students for college. CPP scholars take college courses, prepare for the ACT, learn about the financial aid process and visit nearby universities and cultural institutions.
