Geoscientist Claire Masteller in Arts & Sciences will look at the erosive power of ocean waves on rocky coastlines with a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation.

The Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies at the Brown School will co-lead an $880,840 three-year grant project from the U.S. Department of Justice to bolster training and support systems for Native American communities.

Rajendra S. Apte, MD, PhD, the Paul A. Cibis Distinguished Professor and vice chair of innovation and translation in the John F. Hardesty, MD, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the 2024 Roger H. Johnson Award.

Siyuan Ding, an assistant professor of molecular microbiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received a Michelson Prize: Next Generation Grant from the Michelson Medical Research Foundation and the Human Immunome Project.

Isaac Seiler, a junior studying sociology in Arts & Sciences, has won the prestigious Truman Scholarship, the leading graduate fellowship for students who are committed to careers in public service.

Parkorn Wangpaiboonkit, an assistant professor of music in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has won a 2024 fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.

Each year, the Gerry and Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award recognizes select members of the WashU community who show exemplary commitment to service and engagement within the St. Louis area.  

The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement received a perfect score for its  2024 Voter Engagement Action Plan from the All In Campus Democracy Challenge, a national nonpartisan initiative to improve college voter turnout.

Three WashU students have received the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, a prestigious award that honors students who conduct research in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. The winners, all juniors, are Makenna Fluegel, Aidan Li and Sean Wang.
