The Department of Classics in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis has received an estate commitment from honorary emeritus trustee John H. Biggs, PhD ’83, and his late wife, classics scholar Penelope Biggs, PhD ’74, MA ’68, to name the John and Penelope Biggs Department of Classics.

Olin Business School honored four Koch family members as the 2024 Dean’s Medalists at the school’s annual Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner April 4.

The 41st annual Brown School Awards of Distinction took place April 11 at the Forest Park Visitor Center. Each year, the Brown School honors alumni and friends who create positive change for people around the globe.

Abhinav Diwan, MD, a highly regarded cardiologist with expertise in the molecular underpinnings of cardiovascular disease, has been named the inaugural Charlie W. Shaeffer, MD, Professor of Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Jennifer Heemstra was installed as the Charles Allen Thomas Professor in Chemistry in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis during a ceremony April 10 at the Whittemore House. Her lab is focused on harnessing the capabilities of proteins and nucleic acids to address unmet needs in biomedicine and the environment.

Arts & Sciences recognized four alumni and a friend of the school for their achievements, service and commitment to the liberal arts during its Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner, held April 11.

Corinna Treitel, a professor and chair of history in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, was installed recently as the university’s William Eliot Smith Professor in History.

Sanjoy Baruah, an expert in scheduling theory and safety-critical system design, has been named the Hugo F. & Ina Champ Urbauer Professor at the McKelvey School of Engineering.
