Equalize 2020: Empowering academic women entrepreneurs
Washington University in St. Louis is committed to supporting faculty, students and staff wherever they are on their entrepreneurial journey — and is especially invested in supporting women bringing their ideas and discoveries from the lab to the marketplace.
A terrific example of that commitment begins in St. Louis next year, with Equalize 2020.
International research proposals sought
Several Washington University centers, programs and institutes are currently offering research funding opportunities — including seed funding — for faculty engaged in international collaborative research. Several have deadlines in November.
New student cohort welcomed to campus
The McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis recently welcomed the first cohort of students funded by a prestigious new grant from the China Scholarship Council. The three-year renewable program will enable up to six doctoral students per year to pursue research on projects in the areas of life sciences, energy and informatics involving collaborations between Washington University’s McKelvey School of Engineering and Xi’an Jiaotong University.
Proposals sought for seed grant program
The newly launched Social Policy Institute and the McDonnell International Scholars Academy are seeking proposals for collaboration between Washington University researchers and researchers at international partner universities.
University partners for Grow Solar STL program

East End Transformation dedicated
A sweeping campus planning, design and construction project has transformed the Danforth Campus two years after the start of construction. The largest capital project in the university’s recent history, the East End Transformation was officially dedicated Oct. 2.

The Academy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion launched with a full staff at the start of this academic year. On Sept. 20, the academy held an event to celebrate its initial engagements and to look ahead to the work that remains to be done.

The newly formed Social Policy Institute at Washington University in St. Louis will bring together the best research evidence from across disciplines to solve real-world challenges. The institute launches Sept. 24.
Sumers Recreation Center attains LEED Platinum certification
The U.S. Green Building Council recently awarded Sumers Recreation Center its highest certification: LEED Platinum. The news demonstrates Washington University in St. Louis’ sustained commitment to protecting the environment.
