WUSTL celebrates Earth Week April 22-26

WUSTL is celebrating Earth Day Monday, April 22, and many sustainability-themed events are planned for the week of April 22-26 on the Danforth and Medical campuses. On Monday, there with be an Earth Week Kickoff in Edison Courtyard and a climate change panel discussion featuring faculty from across the university.

PB&Joy drive ends today

Today is the final day for PB&Joy, a university-wide initiative, in partnership with Operation Food Search, to collect food for the 135,000 area children who struggle for consistent meals over summer when school is out. It’s not to late to take part. There are many food drop-off locations across WUSTL’s four campuses and it’s also possible to make contributions online.

Thirty-four ‘Green Offices’ earn certification

Two WUSTL offices earned gold-level certified in the first year of the Green Offices Program: the Institute for Public Health and Environmental Health & Safety. The program uses a points-based, self-assessment checklist so offices across the university can become sustainability champions. The plaques, made out of reclaimed lumber, embody the values of sustainability.

Art and Tweed bike ride Saturday​​

Experience art and history dressed in your finest knickers and caps for a St. Louis Art and Tweed Ride. Bike enthusiasts will begin their journey at the Kemper Art Museum to enjoy croissants and view the exhibit Georges Braque and the Cubist Still Life, 1928-1945, then continue on to the Saint Louis Art Museum and other sites, before returning to the Kemper.

Preparing for Multicultural Weekend

Multicultural Celebration Weekend, April 11-13, welcomes admitted students for a campus visit focused on diverse student life and learning opportunities. Freshman Lela Prichett shows off one of the shirts marking the weekend.

Free bike tune-ups today, tomorrow

Mechanics from Big Shark Bicycles will provide free bike tune-ups for students, faculty and staff today on the Medical Campus and tomorrow on the Danforth Campus. The tune-ups are part of Car-free Month at WUSTL.

Car-free Month: April 2013

The offices of Sustainability and Parking and Transportation challenge the WUSTL community to try alternative means of commuting to campus during Car-free Month, April 1-24. The teams with highest number of car-free trips and greatest number of car-free miles will win awards. April 12 is the last day to register for the Car-free Challenge.

Swim teams host swimming lessons in April

The WUSTL men’s and women’s swimming teams are set to host their annual swim lessons on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning Tuesday, April 9, at the Millstone Pool. The deadline to sign up for lessons is Monday, April 8.
