Jeffrey Bradley, MD, the S. Lee Kling Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, was named the lung cancer committee chair for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. As chair, Bradley will serve on the RTOG Research Strategy Committee and work closely with investigators from the group’s scientific core committees to develop and report on protocols designed to improve the outcome and quality of life of lung cancer
patients. …

Todd Braver, PhD, professor of psychology in Arts & Sciences, has received a one-year, $2,500 grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation for research titled “Mechanisms of Cognitive Control.” …

Jianmin Cui, PhD, associate professor of biomedical engineering, has received a four-year, $1,330,000 grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for research titled “Subunits Interaction in the Function of BK Channels.” …

Rakesh Nagarajan, MD, PhD, associate professor of pathology and immunology, has received a two-year, $357,826 subaward through the University of Florida from the National Center for Research Resources for research titled “VIVO: Enabling National Networking of Scientists.” This subaward is supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Eric E. Klein, PhD, professor of radiation oncology, testified to the Subcommittee on Health of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce Feb. 26, 2010. The hearing was titled “Medical Radiation: An Overview of the Issues.” Klein spoke about steps that should be taken to further ensure patient safety during radiotherapy.
