Farewell, fall foliage

Student volunteers rake leaves in the Ames Place neighborhood north of the Danforth Campus in University City Nov. 14 to raise money for Backstoppers, an organization that provides assistance to families of police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders killed while performing their duties. The Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity led a group of more than 50 students representing 13 fraternities and sororities in the leaf-raking event in honor of Sgt. Michael King, the WUSTL alum and University City police officer who was killed in the line of duty last year. The event was part of the University’s Good Neighbor Initiative to encourage positive interaction between students and neighborhood residents.
