The recent meltdown in financial markets around the world, government rescue plans and the future of the global economy will be the focus of an international panel of economic experts Friday, Oct. 17, 2:30 p.m., at Washington University in St. Louis. Free and open to the public, the event will be held in the Lab Sciences Building, Room 300 on the Danforth Campus.
Participants include:
• James Bullard, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis
• Steven M. Fazzari, Ph.d., associate director of the Weidenbaum Center and professor of economics at Washington University in St. Louis
• David W. Kemper, chairman, president and CEO of Commerce Bancshares, Inc. and chairman of the board of trustees of Washington University in St. Louis
• Rolf Luders, professor economics at the Institute of Economics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and editor of Cuadernos de Economia, the Latin American Journal of Economics
• Guillermo Ordonez, assistant professor of economics at Yale University and research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis
The panel discussion is co-sponsored by Washington University’s Department of Economics, the Center for Dynamic Economics, the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy, the Center for Economic Theory and the Undergraduate Economics Association.
