First-year M.B.A. student Pete Braxton helps clean and restore Father Dickson Cemetery in Crestwood, Mo., as part of the second annual Olin Serves Day Sept. 9. The historically significant African-American cemetery is the resting place of many freed slaves and their descendents. About 60 students, alumni and some spouses participated in service projects with Habitat for Humanity and Americorps. Volunteers also helped build houses and prepared a new facility for Marian Middle School, which educates underserved adolescent girls. The event was sponsored by Edward Jones, Anheuser-Busch Cos., Sigma-Aldrich and Harrah’s Entertainment, which also sent employees to help.
