Leading the way

Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton (left) is congratulated by Ed Rust, chairman and chief executive officer of State Farm Insurance Cos., upon Wrighton’s election to the post of chair of the Business-Higher Education Forum. Wrighton, who served as vice chair from 2002-04, succeeds Rust and will serve as chair for the next two years. BHEF is composed of outstanding business and academic cheif executive officers — representing about 80 leading corporations and universities who have joined together to examine issues of critical public concern and to, when appropriate, speak with one voice by issuing public policy papers on matters of national concern for dissemination and discussion. Members include corporate leaders from KPMG, Hallmark, Pfizer, IBM, Raytheon, TIAA-CREF, John Wiley and Sons and ACE, and universities including Michigan, Georgetown, Lehigh, Notre Dame and Purdue. Wrighton was elevated to the post at the BHEF meeting June 11-12 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
