Launched in 2007, WashU’s Alberti Program offers young people a hands-on introduction to architecture, a field rarely included in the K-12 curriculum. Students ask the same questions, use the same tools and build the same models as real-life architects.

“Growing Deep Roots,” a one-person show by artist Carolina Caycedo, will open Sept. 9 at the WashU Kemper Art Museum. In this Q&A, Caycedo discusses her work, her interest in migration, just energy transitions and the tenacity of repair.

Horacio Coppola and Grete Stern are pivotal figures in the art of 20th century Argentina. Beginning Sept. 9, the WashU Kemper Art Museum will explore their legacy as part of “Buenos Aires Modern, 1935–1950,” the first U.S. exhibition to examine how local, exile and immigrant artists adopted and transformed the aesthetics of international modernism.

More than a dozen nationally and internationally known artists, architects, designers and scholars will discuss their work as part of the Sam Fox School’s fall Public Lecture Series.

The Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis will present “Carolina Caycedo: Growing Deep Roots,” a solo exhibition of new and recent work by the Los Angeles–based Colombian artist Carolina Caycedo, Sept. 9 to Jan. 4.
