Mark P. Taylor, dean of Olin Business School, will conclude his deanship June 30. He will continue to serve as the Donald Danforth Jr. Distinguished Professor of Finance after taking a year of academic leave.

Praised for her can-do spirit, professionalism and grace, Rachel Mance, director of faculty support at Washington University School of Law, has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Gloria W. White Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes a nonacademic staff member for exceptional effort that has bettered the university.

Ranen Miao, a rising senior studying political science and sociology in Arts & Sciences, has been named a Udall Undergraduate Scholar. Miao was among 55 students selected for the honor.

Guoyan Zhao, assistant professor in neuroscience at Washington University School of Medicine, received a $433,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to apply a cutting-edge imaging technology to study subcellular features of brain tissue from Alzheimer’s patients.

After surviving an unprecedented WashU experience, the Class of 2022 was lauded for its resilience as it celebrated Commencement May 20. Graduates got their diplomas — and a daylong celebration punctuated by a festival that stretched across campus.

In his remarks to the Washington University in St. Louis Class of 2022, Chancellor Andrew D. Martin suggested that the graduates ask themselves not what they want to be, but who do they want to be.

The Mass Spectrometry Technology Access Center (MTAC) has opened at the McDonnell Genome Institute on the Medical Campus. The MTAC offers proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics and spatial omics services to help researchers answer questions in basic, translational and clinical research.
