Gibson recognized by Academy of Science of South Africa
James L. Gibson, who has studied and written extensively about the evolution of South Africa’s democracy in the post-apartheid era, has been elected to the Academy of Science of South Africa as an honorary foreign associate.
Center for the Humanities faculty fellows named
The Center for the Humanities in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis recently announced its 2021-22 cohort of faculty fellows. Faculty fellows spend a semester in residence at the center, giving them space and time to make great progress on their research and book projects.
Infectious diseases organization honors five faculty
Five faculty members at the School of Medicine have been elected fellows of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). They are Ernie-Paul Barrette, MD, Jeffrey Henderson, MD, PhD, David Hunstad, MD, Stephen Liang, MD, and Hilary Reno, MD, PhD.

Bruno Sinopoli, the Das Family Distinguished Professor and chair of the Preston M. Green Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering at the McKelvey School of Engineering, has been named an IEEE Fellow of the Class of 2021, one of the organization’s most prestigious honors.
Psychonomic Society recognizes Zacks with Mid-career Award
Jeffrey Zacks, associate chair and professor of psychological and brain sciences in Arts & Sciences, and of radiology at the School of Medicine, received the Mid-career Award from the Psychonomic Society.

Roediger honored for leadership, research contributions
The American Psychological Association has named Henry L. “Roddy” Roediger, the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences in Arts & Sciences, the recipient of its 2021 Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions. In addition, the Psychonomic Society has awarded Roediger the Clifford T. Morgan Distinguished Leadership Award.
