Projects produced by University Marketing & Communications and other departments at WashU recently won 2023 Circle of Excellence Awards and district awards from CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education). 

More than 50 Washington University in St. Louis researchers have been named to the Highly Cited Researchers 2023 list by Clarivate, an analytics company. The list identifies scientists who demonstrate exceptional influence in their fields, as reflected through their papers frequently cited by their peers.

The Program in Audiology and Communication Sciences at the School of Medicine has been awarded two grants from the U.S. Department of Education that combined will provide over $2.3 million in support of its graduate training programs.

Lora Iannotti, a professor at the Brown School, has been named recipient of the 2022 Board for International Food and Agricultural Development Award for Scientific Excellence in a Feed the Future Innovation Lab.

The university community came together Nov. 4 at its annual Founders Day celebration to honor the outstanding achievements of some of the university’s most distinguished faculty, alumni and friends. The event was held at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel.

Janice Robertson, of the School of Medicine, received a two-year $155,500 grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Ronald C. Rubenstein, MD, PhD, a professor of pediatrics at the School of Medicine, has been installed as the Robert C. Strunk Endowed Chair for Lung and Respiratory Research.

Anthropologist Crickette Sanz in Arts & Sciences was honored with the Saint Louis Zoo’s 2023 Conservation Award, which recognized her work with David Morgan to help ensure the long-term survival of chimpanzees and gorillas in the Congo Basin.

Washington University in St. Louis senior Victoria “Tori”  Harwell has been selected as a Rhodes Scholar, the 30th winner in university history. Harwell was among the 32 students nationwide selected Nov. 11 to receive the prestigious honor that provides scholars the opportunity to earn an advanced degree at Oxford University.

Sarah D. Ackerman, Gabor Egervari, MD, PhD, and Tao Xie, all of the School of Medicine, have been named 2023 Young Investigator grantees by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. The funding supports promising early-career scientists in neuropsychiatry with innovative ideas in mental health research.
