Nathan Vedal, assistant professor of East Asian languages and cultures in Arts & Sciences, has received a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies. Vedal also recently received a Mellon Fellowship from Princeton University’s Institute for Advanced Study.

Portland, Ore.-based artist Lyndon Barrois Jr., and artist Wyndi DeSouza, who divides her time between St. Louis and Newark, N.J., have won the 2020 Stone & DeGuire Contemporary Art Awards.

Dennis Zhang, assistant professor of operations and manufacturing management at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, has won the 2020 Olin Award for research that creates a human-focused algorithm to improve warehouse workers’ packing time while also reducing material costs.

The John W. Kluge Center at the U.S. Library of Congress has appointed Ignacio M. Sanchez Prado, the Jarvis Thurston and Mona Van Duyn Professor in the Humanities in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, as the 2020 Kluge Chair in Countries and Cultures of the South.

A community development project led by Linda C. Samuels, associate professor in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, and Christopher Trumble, associate professor at the University of Arizona, has won a national Architectural Education Award for Collaborative Practice.
