The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University will host a press preview of the exhibition “Adam Pendleton: To Divide By” at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22. The exhibition opens to the public later that evening.

Artist Adam Pendleton, designer Kelli Anderson, Whitney curator Adrienne Edwards and architects Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi are among an international array of creative professionals who will discuss their work for the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts’ fall Public Lecture Series.

The annual Music at the Intersection festival will be Sept. 9-10 in midtown’s Grand Center Arts District and will pay homage to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. WashU is a major sponsor, and students can get discounted tickets.

Multidisciplinary artist, experimental filmmaker and writer Crystal Z Campbell has been named the Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellow at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts for the 2023-24 academic year.

“Infrastructural Optimism” by Linda C. Samuels, a professor of urban design at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, has been long-listed for the inaugural Pattis Family Foundation Global Cities Book Award.

Ron Himes, in Arts & Sciences, will receive the Visionary Trailblazer Award from the Association for Theatre in Higher Education during the group’s 2023 national conference.

“Urban Archaeology: Lost Buildings of St. Louis,” a new exhibition curated by WashU’s Michael Allen, will open Sept. 8 at the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts.

Eileen G’Sell, a senior lecturer for the College Writing Program in Arts & Sciences, has won a 2023 Rabkin Prize for visual arts journalism.
