About 40 engineering and occupational therapy students collaborated during Washington University in St. Louis’ inaugural Assistive Tech Make-A-Thon, designing products for St. Louisans with mobility and other physical challenges.

Anna Gonzalez, vice chancellor for student affairs at Washington University in St. Louis, has been selected as one of 40 women making a difference in higher education by “Diverse: Issues In Higher Education,” a leading publication that covers diversity news in colleges and universities. 

Washington University has once again been named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution for U.S. students. This recognition is given to the U.S. colleges and universities that received the highest number of applicants selected for the 2023-24 Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

A tradition for more than two decades, the Greater St. Louis Marathon returns April 27 with a new name, a new course and new pre- and post-run events. The race also has a new partner: Washington University in St. Louis, which is offering employees and students discounted registration fees.

Undergraduate tuition for the 2024-25 academic year at Washington University in St. Louis will be $64,500, an increase of $2,750 (4.5%) over the current charge of $61,750, announced Amy B. Kweskin, executive vice chancellor for finance and chief financial officer.

New York Times bestselling author Nnedi Okorafor will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Umrath Hall Lounge. The event is sponsored by the African Students Association at Washington University with support from the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program.

Kristy Guffey has been appointed associate vice chancellor and chief of staff to Anna Gonzalez, vice chancellor for student affairs, effective. Feb. 1, Gonzalez announced. 

Technology — a pedagogical ally or enemy? The answer, of course, is: It depends. At the recent iTeach Conference, hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning, educators shared how they use technology to boost learning and when they keep it out of the classroom.

As part of the Engage Democracy 2024 election event series, the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement invites the WashU community to propose nonpartisan events and programming that encourages voter registration and increases education and engagement in the 2024 elections.
