Celebrating our American Indian culture

Tim Robinson (left) and his son, Junes Robinson (center, in red), each prepare a ceremonial dance during the 20th annual Pow Wow April 10 in the Field House. The Robinsons are from Lawrence, Kan., and are members of the Omaha Tribe. The annual Pow Wow, sponsored by the George Warren Brown School of Social Work’s Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies, is the only Pow Wow within 100 miles of St. Louis. Attendees and participants enjoyed a daylong celebration of dancing, singing, drumming, arts, crafts and food. The theme of this year’s Pow Wow was “Honoring Kathryn Buder’s Vision: Listening to the Native Voice.”
