Celebrating more Metro

Liz Kramer (center), a fellow in the office of the executive vice chancellor for administration, and students cheer the passing of Proposition A supporting transit at the Danforth University Center. Students and other Metro public transit supporters — including Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton, campaign steering committee chair, and Chesterfield Mayor John Nations, campaign chair — spent much of the evening April 6 in the Tisch Commons for an election-watch party. Proposition A, which called for a half-cent sales tax increase to support public transportation in the St. Louis area, passed by a 2-to-1 margin in St. Louis County. It will provide $75 million annually to expand and operate the Metro system and will trigger a city sales tax that will raise another $8 million for Metro.
