National Public Health Week celebration, April 5-8

The George Warren Brown School of Social Work is celebrating National Public Health Week April 5-8 with a series of events that is open to the university community.

The events, co-sponsored by the student group Advocacy and Learning for Public Health Action (ALPHA), are:

  • Wayne Mortensen, H3 Studios Urban Design project manager and guest lecturer at Washington University, will speak about “Urban Design as a Public Health Tool” at noon Monday, April 5, in the Kemp Auditorium at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts.
  • Brown School Distinguished Alumni honoree J. Peter Roberto, director of the Department of Public Health and Social Services for Guam, will present “From The Heart of the Matter … to a Vision for Caring Communities, Thanks to the Brown School,” at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 5, in Brown Hall Lounge.
  • Jeffrey F. Peipert, MD, the Robert J. Terry Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the School of Medicine, will discuss “The Contraceptive Choice Project: Long-Acting Reversible Contraception,” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in the Holden Case Study Room of the Farrell Learning & Teaching Center on the Medical Campus.
  • ALPHA will host a pasta bar at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 8, in Goldfarb Hall Commons. A bake sale fundraiser, with all donations going to Haiti relief, will be held at the same time.
