Missouri voter registration deadline approaching

The Office of Government and Community Relations wants to remind members of the Washington University community that the voter registration deadline is approaching. To be eligible to vote in Missouri’s upcoming November election, you must be registered by Wednesday, October 11, 2006. Election Day is Tuesday, November 7, 2006.

All members of the Washington University community are encouraged to register and vote in the upcoming election.

In addition to State and Federal candidate elections, four Missouri constitutional amendments and one statutory measure will be on the ballot. We know that several of these issues are of great interest to the University community, and you may wish to read more about them at the following link: http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/2006ballot/default.asp#general

To register to vote in Missouri, you must:
• be a citizen of the United States
• be a resident of Missouri (new residents may register immediately, but proof of residency is required).
• provide proof of residency, which includes a copy of an appropriate I.D., such as a current photo I.D., or a current utility bill, bank statement,paycheck or other official document that shows your name and address.
• register at least 28 days prior to the election (registration forms must be postmarked by October 11, 2006; in-person registrations must also be completed by October 11, 2006)
• be at least 17-1/2 years of age (you must be 18 by November 7, 2006)
•not be on probation or parole after conviction of a felony

After completing the voter registration form, send it to the appropriate election authority office. If you live in St. Louis County, mail your completed form to:
