University Police recently released the following crime alert. Readers with information that could assist in investigating these incidents are urged to call 935-5555. This information is provided as a public service to promote safety awareness and is available on the University Police Web site at police.wustl.edu.
During the summer and first week of the new academic year there have been at least four thefts reported to University Police from within Umrath, Beaumont or Rubelmann residence halls.
Each of the thefts involved unlocked rooms where either a wallet or credit cards have been taken. The credit cards have subsequently been used at area businesses. Police are investigating the thefts.
Report suspicious persons or activity immediately to University Police at 935-5555 or go to the nearest emergency telephone; lock your door whenever you leave, even if for a short time; never prop open exterior doors; and do not allow people you do not know to “tailgate” behind you into the building.
