Crime alert
University Police issued the following crime alert July 6:
On July 5 at about 3:45 a.m., two suspects approached four people standing in the 700 block of Westgate Avenue. One suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. One victim gave the suspect cash. One victim was struck in the head by one of the suspects. Both suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle, described as a late 1980s to mid-1990s Oldsmobile Cutlass, missing its front grill and with a gray primer color.
Precautions
If a thief confronts you, give them what they want and don’t chase them as they leave. Report suspicious persons or activity immediately to the police. Avoid walking or jogging alone and never walk or jog alone after dark. Report suspicious activities/persons immediately to the University City Police at 911 or via Blue Light Emergency Telephone.
Additionally, University Police responded to 11 larcenies, six burglaries, five parking violations, two reports of trespassing and one report each of stalking and lost article.
