The following incidents were reported to University Police Sept. 21-27. Readers with information that could assist in investigating these incidents are urged to call 935-5555. Sept. 21
9:27 a.m. — A person reported parking his vehicle in the Millbrook Garage between Sept. 13-20. Upon returning to his car, he discovered that his glove box had been rifled through and his registration and insurance card were missing. There were no signs of forced entry.
Sept. 22
12:42 p.m. — A contractor at the Butler Building had two tool boxes containing paint brushes stolen from his vehicle, which was parked next to the building. The theft occurred between 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. An investigation is continuing.
Crime alert:
During the past week there have been four bicycle thefts across the Hilltop Campus, with most targeted along the north side of the campus. The most common targets have been bicycles that are either unsecured or locked with lightweight cables.
Precautions:
• Always lock your bike to a bike rack in a visible and well-lighted area.
• Don’t ever leave a bicycle unlocked.
• Don’t lock your bike to itself (the front wheel locked to the frame).
Additionally, University Police responded to eight larcenies, three reports of property damage and one report each of arrest, drug offence, parking violation, auto accident, disturbance and telephone harassment.
