Clifford M. Will, Ph.D., professor of physics, has been elected President of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation, for a three-year term. The election took place in July at the 17th International Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation, held in Dublin, Ireland. The triennial conference, sponsored by the society, brings together the world’s researchers on Einstein’s theory and its consequences.

The society publishes the Journal of General Relativity and Gravitation, and is an affiliated commission of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. He will serve until the next conference, in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, and then will serve as vice president for an additional three years. He had been an elected member of the governing committee of the society since 1995. …

Ramesh K. Agarwal, Ph.D., the William Palm Professor of Engineering, has received a $25,000 grant from the The Boeing Co. for his study, “Simulations of Drag Reduction Using Active Flow Control.”
