Washington University’s Performing Arts Department (PAD) in Arts & Sciences will present the Young Choreographers Showcase April 2-4 in the Annelise Mertz Dance Studio.

The evening features an eclectic program of works by eight student choreographers from the PAD’s Dance Program. All works were selected by a jury of dance faculty. Styles include modern, tap and ballet.
Performances begin at 8 p.m. Friday, April 2; at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 3, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 4. Tickets are $12 and $8 for seniors, students and Washington University faculty and staff. Tickets are available through the Edison Theatre Box Office, (314) 935-6543.

Following the 2 p.m. April 3 performance, the PAD will host a dessert-and-coffee reception for Annelise Mertz, professor emeritus of dance, who recently received a 2004 Missouri Arts Award, the state’s highest honor for achievement in the arts, for her contributions to Arts Education. Mertz and Jeffery Matthews, artist-in-residence in the PAD, will read excerpts from her book, The Body Can Speak.
