
Washington University in St. Louis will open the academic year on Monday, Aug. 29, with a universitywide gathering to reflect upon recent events, consider our individual and collective roles in the community, and celebrate our shared, core values.
“Reflections: Unity, Social Justice & Peace” will begin at 4 p.m. in Graham Chapel, with a reception immediately following in Tisch Commons at the Danforth University Center. The doors to Graham Chapel will open at 3:30 p.m.
The event will open with remarks from Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and a piano performance by Provost Holden Thorp. Student speakers will share reflections from diverse perspectives, and Rev. Gary Braun, director of the Catholic Student Center, will deliver a keynote talk on “Living with Uncertainty.” The gathering will conclude with remarks from Lori S. White, vice chancellor for student affairs.
