Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis recognized five alumni during its 18th annual Arts & Sciences Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony, held March 19 at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis.
Barbara A. Schaal, PhD, dean of the faculty of Arts & Sciences and the Mary-Dell Chilton Distinguished Professor, hosted the awards dinner.
The school presented three Distinguished Alumni Awards, one Early Career Achievement Award and one Dean’s Medal.
The 2015 Arts & Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are:
David P. Conner (AB ’74)
Conner is an international businessman in banking who has been hailed as one of the best CEOs in Asia and a driver of economic development in Singapore.
Alice E. Conway, JD (AB ’76, MA ’79, JD ’83, PhD ’83)
Conway is a trained vocalist, fluent in multiple languages, including Braille, and a trusted commercial and employment attorney for Monsanto.
Stephen H. Lockhart, MD (AB ’77)
Lockhart is an anesthesiologist, health-care executive, Rhodes Scholar and national leader in environmental conservation.
Monique M. Williams, MD (AB ’95, MD ’99, MS ’08)
(Early Career Achievement Award)
A physician and clinical research scholar, Williams focuses on Alzheimer’s research and diabetes and has been influential in outreach to African-American communities.
Wilfred R. Konneker, PhD (PhD ’50)
(Dean’s Medalist)
A pioneer in nuclear medicine and radiopharmaceuticals, Konneker founded or co-founded numerous successful companies and ran the pharmaceutical division of Mallinckrodt.
