Siti Syuhada Binte Faizal (left), a doctoral student in psychology in Arts & Sciences, explains her research to Limei Tian and Zeynep Nergiz, both doctoral students in mechanical engineering and materials science in the School of Engineering & Applied Science, during the 16th annual Graduate Student Research Symposium held Saturday, Feb. 26, in the Laboratory Sciences Building. Faizal’s research, titled “Speling ‘Successful’ Sucesfuly: The Special Case of Medial Consonants,” explores why people spell the way they do. She was among nearly 60 graduate and professional students who presented their work to a broad audience of diverse academic backgrounds. The focus of the symposium is for the student presenters to hone their communication skills by making their advanced research topics accessible to non-specialists.
