Wakefield visits School of Medicine’s HIV clinics

Mary Wakefield, PhD, of the Health Resources and Services Administration, visits Ryan White Part C/D programs

Mary Wakefield, PhD, an administrator with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was on campus Oct. 14 to tour the School of Medicine’s Ryan White part C/D programs, the largest regional provider of HIV services for children and adults. HHS has provided Ryan White grants to the School of Medicine since the 1980s. These grants support medical, mental health and other services for people with HIV.While on the tour, Wakefield met with faculty, staff and patients. From left are Katie Plax, MD, adolescent HIV specialist and director of the Adolescent Center; Wakefield; Kim Donica, executive director of Project Ark (AIDS/HIV Resources and Knowledge); Gregory Storch, MD, professor of pediatrics and medical director of Project ARK; and Ericka Hayes, MD, medical director of the School of Medicine’s pediatric HIV clinic.
